I had the opportunity to read to several different groups of students over March is Reading Month. I always enjoy reading and sharing Annie’s stories. I have been told that many authors charge money, and maybe some day that may be what I have to do, but I don’t see it ever happening. I always think about the purpose of Annie’s story and that I want that one child who needs to hear the story and to know they are not alone is the biggest reward for me.
I always have great conversations about holidays, traditions, families and friendships. I love hearing how they make connections to the story, whether it is a love of food that they share with Annie, a road trip, or a most-loved activity of building a blanket fort. Whether I do an in-person or virtual, I love the experience and plan to keep doing it for free for many years to come.
