Chocolate Soup

dneumann1972

For my dear friend Diana, who lovingly teases me about only knowing carrot cake recipes, today's post is a playful rebuttal. While I do have an enduring love for all things carrot cake (can you blame me?), I also have a world of other recipes up my sleeve. And today, I present to you something decadent, rich, and a little unexpected: Chocolate Soup.

Yes, you read that right—chocolate soup! Perfect for cozy evenings or an elegant dessert for guests, this recipe will convince even the staunchest carrot cake advocates that I can branch out. Ready to dive in?

Ingredients:

·        2 C Milk

·        1 C Heavy Cream

·        8 oz. dark chocolate (finally chopped)

·        3 T Granulated Sugar

·        1 t Vanilla Extract

·        Pinch of Sea Salt

·        Whipped Cream

·        Fresh Berries

·        Sprinkles

·        Graham Crackers

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and heavy cream. Warm over medium heat until tiny bubbles start to form around the edges, but don't let it boil.

  2. Reduce the heat to low and whisk in the chopped dark chocolate. Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

  3. Add the sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of sea salt. Whisk until everything is well combined. Taste and adjust the sweetness to your liking.

  4. Pour the chocolate soup into bowls or mugs. Add a dollop of whipped cream, a handful of berries, and sprinkles

  5. Serve warm with Graham Crackers for dipping. It's like drinking the richest hot chocolate, only better!

So why Chocolate Soup? Because it is a delightful way to step outside the box. It's comforting, yet sophisticated. Whether you're curling up with a good book, impressing friends at a dinner party, or just treating yourself, chocolate soup delivers on every level.

So, Diana, while I'll never give up my love for carrot cake (Annie would never forgive me!), I hope this chocolatey indulgence shows you that my culinary repertoire is broader than you might think. And who knows? Maybe next time, I'll whip up something completely unexpected—like a savory dish! But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

For now, enjoy this sweet surprise. Let me know if you try it and what toppings you pick. Cheers to chocolate and friendship!
